Three Months

Our twins turned three months old yesterday! Time is just flying by so fast with these little guys. Both babies are still in 0-3 month clothes, but I don't think they will be for very long. We have not had a weight check recently, but they are getting chubbier by the day. Here is what Jacob and Julia are up to at 3 months:

Jacob:


* Jacob is slowly becoming a better sleeper at night. He is now waking just once a night to eat. Sometimes he will awake and have trouble getting back to sleep, but we think that is from his reflux. He is still taking zantac and we think it is helping him.
* Jacob can roll over from front to back and back to front. If we turn our heads for a few seconds while he is in the swing, we will come back to find him flipped on his belly with his face in the swing. He actually seems to enjoy laying that way and has fallen asleep for naps like that.
* Jacob started to smile this month. He smiles a ton in his sleep. He must be having some really great dreams!

Julia:



* Julia is such a happy baby. She loves to smile and has recently become a lot more vocal. She is very laid back and rarely cries.
* Julia can almost make it through the night without waking. She goes to bed around 7 and wakes around 4 to eat. She enjoys her nightime sleep however during the day she is not a fan of napping and will sit and enjoy the scenery.
* Julia is starting to grab and hold on to toys now. She has a pretty good little grip! Lily loves to play with the rings and keys with Julia during playtime.

Unexpected Maryland Trip

We will miss you Gramma Kapust!

Last week we took an unplanned trip to Maryland. Christina's grandmother passed away suddenly on New Years Eve morning. It was very upsetting news since we were not expecting it at all. We were hoping to take a trip to back east in the spring so she could meet the twins. Although traveling with three kids under 2 would be extremely difficult, we really wanted to make it back home to be with family and to attend the funeral. We managed to book plane tickets home the next day and sucessfully made it through the airport and layer with all three kids. Our only problem of the trip was not having our luggage for two days (due to the airline not us). The kids all did a wonderful job on the flights and at the viewing/funeral. It was long few days for all us and we were amazed at how well they all did.

A Photo Recap of 2011

As we 2011 comes to end, we were browsing through photos of some of things we did this year. We realized that although the year flew by, we did a ton as a family in 2011. In January Lily and Christina welcomed Varun home from a deployment in Afghanastan. Lily turned 1 and Christina turned 30 in February. We welcomed Jacob and Julia into our family this year. We took many trips in 2011 including 2 east coast trips and a trip to Vegas. Lily had many firsts this year. She took swim lessons, rode on a C-130, went cross country skiing, and many more. Here are just a small collection of photos to recap our year together.

Merry Christmas and Happy 2 Months to Jacob and Julia

We hope everyone had a very Merry Christmas! We enjoyed dinner and a late night of game playing with friends on Christmas Eve. It was much different than being home with family, but we had a good time with 10 of our friends that showed up for dinner. Lily got to stay up late and had a ball playing with Varun's friends from work. After everyone left around midnight, we got to work on putting together Lily's Christmas present. After 2.5 hours and a few glasses of wine, we had finally got her train table and track put together.

As a Christmas surprise from the twins, we were able to sleep in a bit in the morning. Christina and Julia were up at 8:00 and got started on brunch while Varun, Lily, and Jacob slept in a little longer. Notice how clean the living room was before everyone woke up.

Around 9:00 the rest of the family woke up. Lily walked into the room to see her train table and she was so excited! She then found her stocking and a few more surprises waiting for her. She loved every bit of Christmas morning!




We spent the rest of the day in pajamas relaxing around the house. Lily played with her train table most of the day, Varun played around with his new remote control helicopter, and Christina did a little online shopping catching some awesome Christmas Day deals. At the end of the day, this is what the living room looked like...


Christmas Day was also the twins 2 month birthday! We cannot believe that they are already 2 months old. It seems like we just brought them home yesterday. Here are Jacob and Julia at 2 months...




At 2 months old, both Jacob and Julia are rolling over from stomach to back regularly. Julia has started to smile a lot and both babies are cooing and making more noises (other than crying). Jacob is now 9 pounds 5 ounces and 22 inches long while Julia is 9 pounds 1.5 ounces and 22 1/4 inches long. Both of them are sleeping and eating well and are doing great overall!

It's begining to look a lot like Christmas!

It's begining to look a lot like Christmas here. We have been baking cookies, wrapping up shopping, and watching Christmas movies/shows over the last few days. Yesterday Lily and I baked cookies for the Christmas Eve dinner we are hosting. We had planned to have dinner with some good friends of ours who live nearby and found out earlier this week that we will be having more guests than we thought for dinner. A group of lucky guys in Varun's squadron got a Christmas surprise by getting to come home a month early from deployment. They arrived late last night and a few had no time to arrange travel home for the holidays so we extended our invite to them. We thought we would have a quiet Christmas Eve since we were not going to be around family, but turns out that we will be having 8 other people spending the evening at our place.

We woke this morning to another surprise...snow! A few days ago there was talk of 1-3 inches of snow hitting the Denver area. Usually when they call for snow in Denver, we rarely get any or not nearly as much as predicted. We were surprised to wake up to about 5 inches of snow this morning. Varun took Lily out to play this morning after shoveling the driveway, but she was not too happy with the snow. We thought that she would love the snow this year, but she has not liked it at all so far.
