Treatsylvania 2011

Over the weekend Varun and Christina's dad took Lily trick or treating at a local farm in Fort Collins. The event is called Treatsylvania and is held the weekend before Halloween every year. This was our second year taking Lily. For $5 kids can tour the farm, go on a hayride, eat cookies, and go on a trick or treat tour where local businesses set up decorated boxes and hand out candy. Last year she was so young that she didn't really understand what was going on (it was more for us than her), but this year she had a blast and really knew what was going on. She dressed up as a pumpkin (we got the costume on clearance last fall) and it was perfect since she has had a recent obsession with pumpkins or mum-mines as she calls them.

The Arrival of Jacob and Julia

Jacob and Julia made their arrival on Tuesday, October 25th. After a nearly 30 hour induction that began on Monday morning, Jacob was born at 1:05 PM at 6 pounds 8 ounces and 20 inches, and Julia was born at 1:44 PM at 5 pounds 13 ounces and 18 inches. Both babies are doing well and have been home for 4 days now. We have a ton of photos to sort through from the past week, but here are a few of our favorites so far from our time at the hospital.

The Night Before the Induction

After Christina's 37 week OB appointment, we found out that the twin's fluid levels were getting a little low. Christina went in the following day to to recheck the levels only to find out that they were even lower than the day before so the doctor decided to schedule an induction for Monday morning, October 24th. Over the weekend we tried to relax a little and get things ready for the twin's arrival. On Sunday night we tried to take some pictures of Liliana with the belly to remember the pregnancy. We had a hard time getting her to cooperate since it was close to bedtime, but we mananged to snap a few photos of her playing around in the twins room.

Indian Summer

We have been lucky to have such warm temperatures in September and so far in October. We have been trying to enjoy as much outdoor time as we can before the winter weather arrives. Varun and Lily were enjoying the over 80 degree Saturday morning before the Penn State game.

Fall Festival and Pumpkin Patch

We took Lily to a Fall Festival fundraiser at a local preschool (the one we hope to enroll her in next school year). We thought Lily would have fun at the event, but we also wanted to get a sneak peak at the school and classrooms. She played a few games in the gymnasium, played games in some of the classrooms and got to eat a lot of yummy sweets and snacks.






Later in the weekend, Christina's dad flew in from Maryland. We are lucky to have him here for over 3 weeks to help out as we prepared for the twins arrival. We all took Lily to a local pumpkin patch the next. It was a gloomy and cloudy day so we enjoyed a hot chocolate by the fire at the farm before playing on the playground with Lily and picking pumpkins in the patch.
