It's begining to look a lot like Christmas!

It's begining to look a lot like Christmas here. We have been baking cookies, wrapping up shopping, and watching Christmas movies/shows over the last few days. Yesterday Lily and I baked cookies for the Christmas Eve dinner we are hosting. We had planned to have dinner with some good friends of ours who live nearby and found out earlier this week that we will be having more guests than we thought for dinner. A group of lucky guys in Varun's squadron got a Christmas surprise by getting to come home a month early from deployment. They arrived late last night and a few had no time to arrange travel home for the holidays so we extended our invite to them. We thought we would have a quiet Christmas Eve since we were not going to be around family, but turns out that we will be having 8 other people spending the evening at our place.

We woke this morning to another surprise...snow! A few days ago there was talk of 1-3 inches of snow hitting the Denver area. Usually when they call for snow in Denver, we rarely get any or not nearly as much as predicted. We were surprised to wake up to about 5 inches of snow this morning. Varun took Lily out to play this morning after shoveling the driveway, but she was not too happy with the snow. We thought that she would love the snow this year, but she has not liked it at all so far.

Steamboat Springs

Over the weekend Varun semi-surprised us with a weekend away in Steamboat Springs. Steamboat Springs is a ski resort town in western Colorado about 3.5 hours away. Because we had the twins with us we were not able to ski since they have to be 6 months old to go to the kids club, but it was nice to get away and see something new. We had a good time going out to new restaurants, shopping, and hanging out at the resort pool. We are hoping to get a group of friends together later in the winter for a big ski trip and hopefully we will be able to go ski and take turns watching the kids next time.

As always, we did not take many pictures while we were there. We do have a few good ones to share!

Fun in the Pool

It's the Holiday Season

Things have been pretty here in the Purohit house since Thanksgiving. After taking much of the month of November off, Varun is on his second week back to work and I (Christina) am holding down the fort with the three kids. In addition to Varun going back to work, we have been keeping busy with Christmas shopping and the many holiday events happening around town.

On Friday night I had my first night out in a long time. Varun came home from work early on Friday afternoon to watch the kids so I could get a little baby free time out of the house. I went to happy hour in Old Town with some friends followed by Christmas caroling around town. Afterwards we grabbed some drinks at a bar. It was fun to get out and I think I am going to have to do it a little more often now that I am housebound with Lily and the twins much of the week. Varun and our friend Dan had a low key night at the house with the kids. They bathed the kids, got them to bed, enjoyed a few beers and Thai food while we were out.

On Saturday we had a busy day filled with holiday events. A local golf course which our pool membership is through had breakfast with Santa and games and crafts for kids. We took the kids to see Santa and Lily got to decorate and cookie and make holiday crafts. For the second year in row, she was scared to death of Santa. Later that night we attended our first holiday party of the season at a neighbor's house. They had two kids coordinators and tons of food and games for the kids so Lily had a blast there. She even stayed up till 10:30 playing with the neighborhood kids. Varun and I had a great time too and didn't have to worry about the twins much since everyone else wanted to hold and feed them.

With a high of just 10 degrees today and snow on the ground, we are all relaxing around the house and catching up on things. Lily has been working on a few art projects and we have been watching Christmas shows while the twins are napping. We have taken a ton of pictures of Jacob and Julia since they have been born, but unfortunately one of our computers recently died. We hope to save the photos and get them onto the blog in the near furture.

Thanksgiving and 1 Month

We spend Thanksgiving this year at our home in Colorado. Varun's parents and brother came out to spend the holiday with us. We spent most the week hanging out at home, but the guys managed to sneak out for a round of golf and the girls and babies went shopping.

This year the first Thanksgiving we (Christina and Varun) have spent together since Varun always seems to be deployed over the holidays. We spent the day watching the parade on TV, Skyping family, and watching football. Varun made the turkey and we all pitched in to make the rest of the Thanksgiving meal.

The day after Thanksgiving, Jacob and Julia turned 1 month old. We can't believe that they have been with us for over a month now. They are both doing well (pretty much eat and sleep most of the time). At their doctor's appointment yesterday, Jacob weighed 7 pounds 11 ounces and Julia weighed 7 pounds 9 ounces. She is quickly catching up to him in size! Here are Jacob and Julia at 1 month...

Fun with Grandparents

Lily has enjoyed having visitors at our home for over a month now. Grandpa Kapust (Pop Pop) was here for over three weeks while we waited for the twins arrival and right before he left, Grandma Kapust came to visit for almost 2 weeks. Lily had a blast with the grandparents while they were here. She went on many many walks and bike rides with Pop Pop and he even took her out shopping and to restaurants when we were in the hospital. When Grandma came, Lily made art projects and read many books with her. Last week we had a few beautiful sunny days so Grandma and Lily had an afternoon of fun in the backyard sandbox. Lily is going to miss playing with her visitors!

Halloween

We were so happy to be home from the hospital in time for Halloween so we could take Lily out trick or treating. She has been so excited all fall about pumpkins and she has been knocking on doors around the house saying trick or treat to practice for the big night. Luckily Christina was feeling well enough to take Lily to a few houses on our street while Christina's mom and Varun took her around a few other streets. Lily had a blast! She was so excited to run up to each house and knock on the doors. She had such a good time but we could tell she was exhausted at the end of the night.

First weekend home with Jacob and Julia

We were very lucky that we only had to spend two nights at the hospital after Jacob and Julia were born. We were anxious to get home and see Lily and her reaction to the twins. With just one small jealousy incident (the night we arrived home), Lily has been adjusting well to having a little brother and sister. She loves those babies so much and seems to be enjoying the big sister role by helping us out with the twins. Jacob and Julia are slowly adjusting to life in our house. They still have their days and nights confused, but they are both eating and sleeping pretty well. Here are a few pics from our first few days home.








Lily enjoyed a little one on one time with us as the twins were napping. We carved 4 pumpkins and roasted pumpkin seeds while we watched The Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown. She loved every minute of it!
